Laura Enever

Laura Enever was born November 11, 1991 in Syndey, Australia and began riding waves at age four. At the age of 10, after an early childhood detour into gymnastics, she began surfing seriously and competitively.

Enever was twice a world junior champion (ISA Junior World champion, 2008; ASP Women’s World Junior champion, 2009) before qualifying for the pro tour in 2011, helped in part by the coaching services of savvy competitor and 1988 world champion Barton Lynch.

Fun, outgoing, fashion-obsessed pro surfer girl, Laura has appeared in a 2010 Surfer magazine feature surfing in a bikini and fishnet stockings, posed semi-nude for Stab magazine, and signed a full-time endorsement deal with Nike. In 2011, Laura was captured by photographer-to-the-stars Anne Leibovitz for Nike’s “Make Yourself” campaign; the photos appeared in billboards and magazines worldwide.

Laura has also starred in the Nike-funded, all-girls surf video Leave a Message (2011). She also appeared as herself in the 2011 straight-to-video surf movie Blue Crush 2. In 2010, Transworld Surf magazine named Enever one of the “Ten Hottest Girls in Pro Surfing.”

For the first time since coming on tour in 2012, in 2015 Laura Enever was forced to requalify with her Qualifying Series ranking, and her 17th-place finish that year was the worst in her career. This past season, however, after a slow start, the upbeat Australian was a model of consistency and secured her 10th place ranking at the final event on Maui. This came after a brave performance at the Pe’ahi Invitational, the first-ever women’s WSL Big Wave Tour event. She competed against another Australian surfer, Felicity Palmateer.
